The Vertex Military MOD WWW “Dirty Dozen” watch is part of an iconic set of military timepieces that were issued to British soldiers during World War II. These watches are highly collectible and historically significant due to their durability, precision, and the collaboration between the British Ministry of Defence (MOD) and 12 well-known watch manufacturers, including Vertex.

This Vertex Military MOD WWW Dirty Dozen is one of the so called 12 ‘Dirty Dozen’ watches created for the British military of Defence around 1944/45. Although this Vertex is not the most prized of the 12 and was made in a bigger quantity (thought to be 13,000) than some of the others it is becoming harder to find, especially good examples like this one.

This one is available now and accompanied with our 12-month guarantee.

In line with the other 11 these watches had to be made to a strict MOD requirement and so are all very similar in appearance. This Vertex has a 35/36mm steel case, black dial with subsidiary seconds dial at the bottom and Radium filled hour markers and hands.

Original crown with plexiglass and fitted to a generic steel expandable bracelet.

General condition – clear well worn with scratches and marks throughout as you would expect with a military watch from the 40’s.

Original dial that has largely remained intact with clear bold hour markers. Hands also thought to be original and naturally discoloured.

Operating from a Caliber 59 manual wind movement.

Dial markings clearly showing Vertex and the MOD broad arrow, rear case back markings:

WWW – Broad Arrow – A 22662 / 3515578

Our View – A really clean version of the Vertex with the dial in excellent condition throughout . Impossible to establish if lug markings match case back as these have rubbed off over time.
