We are pleased to offer this distinctive and increasingly collectible Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust 17000, a reference celebrated for its unique place in Rolex history. This particular example was produced in early 1979, with papers dated 1981, and is fitted with a refinished silver dial featuring baton hour markers, silvered hands, and a date aperture at 3 o’clock.
While the dial is striking, we would like to highlight that in our view, it has likely been professionally refinished, as it does not feature the Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified (SCOC) text typical of original COSC dials. Based on the serial, the COSC certification of the movement occurred after the watch’s production but prior to its sale, which was not uncommon during this transitional period.
